Your Life Path Number is one of the most important numbers in a Numerology Report. It is based on your date of birth, and it is easy to calculate. Even so, there is a lot of misinformation about how to do this calculation and what it means. This article will explain what your Life Path Number is and give clear instructions about the correct way to calculate it. It will also give a brief description of each of the various Life Paths.
What is Your Life Path Number?
Your Life Path Number describes what you are here to do in this lifetime. In many ways, it is analogous to your Sun Sign in astrology. Your Life Path Number will also give information regarding your strengths and weaknesses and what motivates you. Furthermore, it can reveal information about your personality and your fears. In a very real way, this number reveals who you were born to be.
How to Calculate your Life Path Number
Your Life Path Number is calculated using the month, day, and year of your birth. This seems like it would be simple enough to do, but there is a right way and a wrong way to perform this calculation. In most cases, the wrong way will still lead to the right result, but not always.
The Wrong Way
The wrong way to calculate your Life Path Number is to add all of the numbers in your birthdate together. For example, if you were born on November 6, 1966, you may add 1+1+6+1+9+6+6, which adds up to 30, which simplifies to 3+0, which equals 3.
The Right Way
While there are times when adding all of the digits in the manner described above will lead to the correct answer, there are times when it will not.
The reason that you will not always get the right result in this way is because of Master Numbers. Master Numbers are 11, 22, and 33. When calculating a Life Path Number, they are never reduced, no matter where they show up. For this reason, to find your True Life Path Number, you need to add and simplify the numbers of the month, day, and year separately before you put them together.
Taking our example of November 6, 1966, you would first look at the month. November is the 11th month. For some calculations, you would simplify this 11 to 1+1, or 2, but not for the Life Path Number. The day is, of course, 6. The year is 1+9+6+6, which equals 22, another Master Number. So, you would add 11+6+22, which equals 39, which reduces to 3+9, which equals 12, which further reduces to 1+2 =3.
As you can see, in this instance, we come to the same Life Path Number as we got using the wrong method. This is what will happen in most cases. Indeed, the two methods will always yield the same number when reduced to a single digit. There is a complicated reason for this based on the properties of the number 9.
The Master Numbers are never reduced, however.
As an example, we can consider the case of September 11, 1966. If you were to do the wrong calculation and add the numbers altogether, you would get 9+1+1+1+9+6+6 = 33. You would stop here because 33 is a Master Number. Yet, if you used the correct calculation, you would add 9+11+22 (the sum of 1+9+6+6) to get 42, which would reduce to 6.
So, using the wrong calculation will give some false results for Master Numbers, and it will miss other Master Numbers.
